Read on below all about Jola.

1) Tell us about yourself!

My name is Jola Rothman (pronounced “yo-la”). This business began as an opportunity for me to raise money for a cause I’m passionate about. Last year I ran for and won Woman of the Year for my local Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, raising $158,000. As a part of my fundraising efforts, my friend and I knitted and sold almost 100 hats in two months. It was fun to knit beautiful and luxurious hats and seeing people enjoying them and feeling great while wearing them. After the campaign, people continued to request hats from me, so Birch Hats was born!

All Birch Hats are unique as they are hand-knitted in the United States with great attention to detail. Birch Hats are made with luxury wools and real fur pom poms made of recycled materials. These hats are perfect for everything from a weekend in Vail to a casual stroll in the city!

Birch Hats started on Feb 28 2019 which would have been my Mom’s 80 Birthday

2) Your career/background?

In my late teens and early twenties I was a model working for an agency in Cracow, Poland. I was hired by the Satchi and Satchi agency to film a Head & Shoulders commercial shot in Madrid, did runway work for several international designers including Paco Rabanne, and had a small part in Schindler’s List, which was filmed mostly in Cracow. I got to be directed by Steven Spielberg and kiss Liam Neeson on camera! Later, I worked for the hair product company Wella in regional sales and owned a hair salon. After getting married and moving to the States, I worked at an Interier design company in Washington, D.C. and managed the Georgetown Pottery Barn store.

3) Your passions/what inspires you?

I am passionate about cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, living a healthy lifestyle and of course travel! I love yoga and meditation. I love nature and the beauty that comes with it. I am inspired by the success of other women!

4) Your style/3 words to describe it and why?

Urban simplicity, classic elegance, workout chic. As a busy mother of 3 who also has a love for fashion and aesthetic, it’s important for me to dress for all of the challenges that face me in my crazy daily life, but to look and feel good while I’m doing it. As a European, I grew up in an environment where fashion was really celebrated, and that has stuck with me!
